Councillor Ken Hook noted that Reeve Henry Hogg was no longer listed as Warden of Lennox & Addington County (which revolves the chair) but has served for five terms as Warden.
“I enjoyed it, but it’s time for somebody else too,” said Hogg.
Lions Donation Request Deferred
Council deferred a request from the Lions Club of Land O’Lakes for a $1,000 donation until budget deliberations.
Caution Light
Manager of Roads and Waste Brett Reavie reported that a request for a three-way stop and/or flashing light at the intersection of Bridge Street and Hwy 23 would have to be handled by Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Sidewalk Closure
Council approved Manager of Roads and Waste Brett Reavie’s suggestion that the west sidewalk in Northbrook along Hwy 41 from the Beer Store southerly to Peterson Road be closed until “such time as we can remove the snow safely without damaging property and in an efficient manner.
Equipment Purchase
Council approved Manager of Roads and Waste Brett Reavie’s request for $21,370 + HST to replace the steamer unit that’s used to clear frozen culverts.
Reavie said the current unit can’t be repaired because it lacks a sticker repair technicians need in order to work on such machines.
Overnight Parking
Manager of Roads and Waste Brett Reavie wanted to remind everyone that cars parked on township roadways and turn-arounds can be towed to facilitate snow removal.
“We had an unusual start to winter but it’s with us now,” he said.
