The Badour Farm Hill Road Association (Taken from Oct 5, 99 letter to members)Emergencies do happen -- even in cottage country! On Friday August 27th, a Bobs Lake cottager suffered head, neck and back trauma due to a fall. By the time the emergency medical team arrived with an ambulance, the victim was already suffering paralysis on one side of her body. The medical team placed the woman on a backboard for complete spinal immobilization to prevent further injury. It was determined by the team that it was necessary to transfer the patient by EVAC helicopter to an Ottawa hospital specializing in neurological treatment. She first had to be transferred across water to Murton Badour's hayfield where she was picked up. The ambulance crew transported her from the pontoon boat, which beached at the Hoselton boat ramp, to the helicopter. The injured woman is making an excellent recovery. The Badour Road Association organizers, Edward Frontz and Hugh Munro, point out that not only was it necessary to have the 911 system in place so that exact locations could be pinpointed, but to have roads which are in good condition so that the ambulance crews can get safely into the site. The Association has been active in improving the roads in their area.
