Arden News from the Kennebec Recreation Committeeby Marsden KirkMore than 60 people gathered in the Arden Community Centre on November 26th to enjoy an evening of coffee, cookies, and music in an event sponsored by the Kennebec Recreational Committee. Bruce Osborne, Russell Gendron, Loraine Shorts, Charlie Burtch, Ruth Oliver, and Doreen Black, accompanied by Jim Duthie on drums, provided a very enjoyable selection of country, western, and gospel melodies. On a somewhat variant theme, the audience was also treated to a rendition of ballroom dance tunes by the Ardencies, a group of seniors who have developed a local following. This group is made up of musicians Clint Barnett (clarinet), Bill Miles (piano), Gord McRae (guitar), and Jim Duthie (drums) with vocals by Helen Praskey. As an added bonus, Al Scott shared with the group his patented interpretation of "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille". A group of talented ladies, led by Diane Nicolson and Sheri Scott, designed and created the Recreation Committee's "Frostie the Snowman" float for entry in two local Santa Claus parades. On November 27, their efforts were rewarded when Frostie was judged the 3rd best float in the Kaladar parade. Then on Saturday Dec. 4, the float was entered in the Sharbot Lake parade.
