Favourite WebsitesInternet users like to talk about their favourite websites. This column will provide our readers an opportunity to share their favourites. One premise underlying the NewsWeb is the Internet is used in different ways in a largely rural, sparsely populated area such as The Land
O'Lakes. That premise should be looked at in this column and we will allow space to do so.
Hopefully our NewsWeb will work its way quickly to the favourites list.
Three of Jim MacPherson's Favourite Sites.
If you enjoy movies, then you should enjoy The Internet Movie Database. This is a huge site with loads of information on over 200 000 movies! I suggest you take the guided tour on your first visit to check out what this site has to offer.
One of the great features of the Internet is the amount of software that is available as shareware, freeware and demos. One of the most comprehensive software sites is TUCOWS. (The Ultimate Collection of Windows Software) With over 1000 mirror sites worldwide you can always find a site close to you for easier downloading. The TUCOWS site is well organized and they us an interesting rating system for each software application.... they use 3, 4 or 5 cows.
This next site is not one site but a link to the 50
Best Science & Technology Sites as determined by Popular Science
Magazine. There are 10 different sections dealing with such areas as The
Universe, Visual Science, Earth & Environment and Health &
Medicine. Many of these sites have a large graphic component so loading
may be slow, but worth the wait. Thanks to Mike Mol from SLHS for
directing me to this site.
