Narrow escape on Henderson Roadby Grey OwlWolves seem to flee the travellers advance like bandits, and you can trudge through Central Frontenac without an adventure worthy of the name. But yesterday, visitors from Ottawa experienced that missing adventure along the Henderson Road.
A king of all wolves pursued their vehicle for over two kilometers, sometimes gaining on them, sometimes falling back. According to the witnesses, the beast had foam dripping from its jowls and slathering its broad chest. It also was heard to growl fiercely while galloping at high speed. From a ribbon caught in its teeth, it looked like it probably had already devoured at least one comely maiden.
After their narrow escape, the pursued people offered a reward for this giant of wolves. When local hunters shot the wolf, they were disappointed to find they had bagged only a 32-pound coyote.
