Touring Motorcycles: Another Sign of Spring by David Brison

Motorcycles_1.jpg (32429 bytes) To see photos please click here. The Norcom Motorcycle Touring Riders Group from Kingston toured through the Land O'Lakes on Sunday, May 7th and stopped for breakfast at Grandma's Country Kitchen in Sharbot Lake. There were 17 bikes and 27 riders on this Sunday's tour. While they were eating, I caught some pictures of the bikes. Greg (Boog) Powell (not the Boog Powell who played first base for the Baltimore Orioles and now operates a famous barbeque stand outside Camden Yards where the Orioles play) tells me that the Group has 60 members. The original members were all production workers at Norcom in Kingston. They have since opened the club up to family and friends. They tour every Sunday. The road captain for the tour through the Land O'Lakes, Carl Smith, planned a route up #38 to Sharbot Lake, to Snow Road on the 509, over to Lanark, down to Perth, back to Maberly (where they were deluged by a heavy rain storm and had to sit it out), over to Westport and home to Kingston on County Road #10. "It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip for all of us and we had a really great breakfast at Grandma's", says Boog.
