Snowmobile
Drag Racesby
Kristin Rideout
After weeks of uncertainty caused by our mild winter, on February 23,
the Snowmobile Drag Races in Sharbot Lake finally took place.
By 10 a.m. the waterfront was packed with vehicles, everyone helping
out, spectators, racers, and their snowmobiles.
The concession stand was set up, the snowmobilers were getting
ready, and more people were arriving by the minute.
There were
more than 128 races during the day.
Before
I knew it, the races had started, and off they went, almost flying
like birds.
For a first-time snowmobile drag race watcher it was just an
amazing sight to see.
All the snowmobilers whipping by at incredibly high speeds,
trying to make sure that they were the one to cross the finish line
first.
The loud sound of the snowmobile and the smell of the
fuel could be heard and smelt from almost every part of the village,
which just added to the fun and excitement.
I hope you all had a blast!
