Dombrowsky itching for electionby Jeff GreenI am ready; I am so ready, said Hastings Frontenac Lennox & Addington (HFL&A) MPP Leona Dombrowsky when asked about the prospects for an election in 2003. Not that Dombrowsky is taking her own re-election for granted since HFL&A is historically a swing riding. I do expect that were going to be the next government. But whoever is going to win this riding is going to win because they deserve it, and Ill be out campaigning as hard as they can.

Dombrowsky was promoted to deputy House Leader for the Ontario Liberals this year, and has spoken out on a variety of topics, including Hydro reform, the governments childrens agenda, and riding boundary reform. Her (and the Liberal partys) grilling of the government over Hydro reform has had to change since the government rolled back prices recently and sent out rebate cheques to all citizens just before Christmas.

On November 4, Dombrowsky said the provincial government has totally botched the hydro file. This is about constituents in Ontario who have been forced to make untenable decisions due to this government's mishandling of hydro."

As to the new policy, Dombrowsky says, remember it was the government who created the problem. I dont think people are being fooled by this. They know that they will be paying for it later on.

Nonetheless, in a recent poll showing the Tories gaining support, the governments new hydro policy was named by respondents as the major reason for the Tories improved standing with the electorate. The poll has led to speculation about a spring election, which Dombrowsy says she has been hoping for. Dombrowsky was named Liberal candidate over a year ago, and as of now the Provincial Conservative Riding Association has yet to name a candidate for HFL&A.
