As the world becomes more and more dominated by fast food, it seems the only way to slow down (and to help our communities prosper) is to eat locally. Each week this summer, the News will be profiling local eateries in our communities. The first is Sharbot Lake .

Located on Hwy. 7 beside the LCBO, The Junction Fries serves classic chip wagon food and more.
The menu specializes in its namesake of fresh cut fries, but also includes; hamburgers, hot dogs, poutine, and 33 flavours of self serve ice cream. Prices range from $3 for fries-$6 for a meal. Owner Kim Gould said she tries to provide a variety that people will enjoy. Suggestions are always welcome!
The Maples, Pizza and Subs……………613-279-8646Just South of Sharbot Lake on Hwy 38 lies The Maples, Pizza and Subs. Specializing in pizza, the menu includes; subs, wings, an assortment of garlic bread, bruschetta bread, fries, wedges, lasagne, nachos and salads. The cost of pizza varies between $8.50 and $21.50. Owners Phil and Lorette Gray are pleased to be able to offer a great take out menu at very affordable prices.
The Rising Bun Bakery and Tearoom...613-279-2923
Located on Hwy 7 and 38 just opposite the police station, the Rising Bun offers a convenient and quaint stop for hungry lunch goers. The light lunch menu includes; soups, sandwiches made on fresh white or whole wheat bread, nachos, fajitas, fresh salads, as well as a wonderful array of delicious squares, cookies, pies, and cakes. The Rising Bun also offers take out rotisserie chicken with two salads and 6 buns for only $13.99. With prices ranging from $3.50-$7.50 for lunch, The Rising Bun is an affordable and satisfying eatery.
Owner Ann Howes is pleased to have been making a living locally for the past 20 years by meeting the demands of the public and fulfilling a need in the community.

With an easily accessible location right on Hwy 7 overlooking beautiful Sharbot Lake, the Sharbot Lake Country Inn provides a full range of dishes with breakfast lunch and dinner menus. The breakfast menu, starts at $4.99 for a meal and includes the popular hearty breakfast. For lunch, the daily special starts at $6.95, for items such as grilled ham and cheese, a cup of soup and a choice between fries or salad. The dinner menu starts at $11.95 and includes the ever-popular Prime Rib. Owners Kathy and Dave Saban have always wanted to be part of the community, helping to make it a more enjoyable place. They try their best by providing a homey atmosphere to dine in.

Also on Hwy. 38 in Sharbot Lake , with a stunning view of Sharbot Lake beach from their fully screened in patio, Sunsets Restaurant offers delicious family dining.
The menu has a broad range of dishes with something that appeals to everyone, from hamburgers and pizza to African Curried Peanut Soup. Sunsets specializes in Indian curries, like their famous Chicken Curry with homemade mango chutney. Prices range from$12-$20 for dinner entrs. Owners Andrea Dickinson and Steve Duggan had the ambition to provide great food, great service and an excellent atmosphere to the community and they are doing just that.
