byJeff Green
It
was a long time coming, 14 years to be exact, as the graduating class
at North Addington Education Centre got together for the final time as
a group to celebrate their collective accomplishments last week.
North Addington is the only comprehensive school in the Limestone Board, and many of the graduates at last week’s ceremony have been attending school together since Kindergarten. Audience members had a chance to try to identify them when the photo from the 1995 Kindergarten graduation was shown as part of a slide show at the end of the hour-long ceremony.
There were many award winners but one student in particular, Courtney Malcolm, was singled out for a number of academic and leadership awards. She also received several scholarships, including a $1,000 scholarship from the L&A Stewardship Council. She will be studying Environmental Science at Trent University in the fall.
This year’s ceremony also coincided with the retirement of Ron Sharp, the Limestone School Board’s Director of Education, making it his last official function.More Stories
