Vehicle Collision Leads To Hand Gun And Drug Charges
Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged four people after a vehicle collision leads to hand gun and drug charges.
On January 16, 2024, shortly after 10:00 a.m., L&A OPP received a call for a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 7 just east of Kellar Road, in Addington Highlands Township. When police arrived, there were four males outside of the vehicle walking around. The vehicle had slid off the road and into a guard rail. The vehicle was damaged and no one was injured in the collision. Police observed a strong odor of cannabis and open alcohol in the motor vehicle as they were talking to the four males. The vehicle was searched and police located alcohol, a loaded hand gun, approximately 7 pills of suspected codeine, 5.14 grams of suspected methamphetamines, 80.07 grams of suspected cocaine, and 11.92 grams of suspected fentanyl. The four males were placed under arrest.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Isaiah BANTON, age 23, of Toronto, Ontario, Clive Ferguson of Brampton, Hamad Shomari of Toronto, and David Jajua of Mississauga each have been charged with 14 counts, including drug and firearms charges.
The accused were held for bail hearings and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on a later date.
Multiple Calls From Concerned Citizens Leads To Driver Charged With Impaired Driving
Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged one driver with impaired driving after receiving multiple calls from concerned citizens.
On January 16, 2024, shortly before 06:00 a.m., L&A OPP responded to multiple reports of a possible impaired driver on Highway seven eastbound at Kaladar. Police patrolled for the vehicle and located it parked on Highway seven between Arden Road and Hughes Road in Central Frontenac Township. There was a male and a female in the vehicle. After talking with police the male driver was arrested for impaired driving and obstruction.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Rebar HUSSEIN, age 41, of Dundas, Ontario, with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Obstruct peace officer
- Operation while prohibited - three counts
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on another date. The accused's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
