Krista Williams & Rianna Wlotzka are ready for busy day of cleaning homes in Frontenac County. | May 01, 2024

Krista Williams enjoyed her time working at the service desk at car dealerships, but a couple of years ago, after her first child was born, the she needed a change. She wanted to get away from desk work, and she wanted flexible hours to be able to spend time with her now 4 year- old daughter.

She is originally from the Verona area, and now lives near Crow Lake, but she lived in Alberta for several years, and at that time she did some house cleaning out there, and really enjoyed.

So, she started watch she calls her “by myself business” - Promise Maid - 15 months ago, getting the word out through employment centres, Frontenac Business Services, and a bit of social media. Word of mouth has done the rest.

Her business is all about creating free time for her clients, offering weekly, biweekly, monthly and one time cleans. Promise Maid specializes in cleaning homes, cottages, rental properties, and offices.

“It just kind of clicked, right from the start. I ended up booking up really fast, the point where I could not take on any clients. I thought maybe it was time to expand, to make this a company great for me, great for clients, and for team members who want to come on board. I know its cleaning houses, but it can be fun,” she said, in a phone interview last week.

So, later in the fall of 2023, she started hiring, and now has 4 people on staff, and along with herself, they are serving almost 100 clients. They work primarily in Frontenac County, but have clients as far away as Kingston and Perth as well.

"Making clients' homes sparkle is something I love to do,” she said. “If I can give someone back time in their day to do what they actually want, it makes my job worth it. And with the implementation of our automation software for scheduling, invoicing, and more, we are able to focus on the cleaning, not the paperwork allowing the team to be more reliable and efficient."

Customers can contact Promise Maid through their website, promisemaid.ca, by phone at 613-561-6147 or by email, This email address is being protected from spambots. Promise Maid also participates in community development, by supporting the Frontenac Farmers Market and fundraising drives by providing services as auction items. This May, they will be supporting local food banks by collecting extra items from their clients.

In year 2 of Promise Maid, Krista is continuing to promote the business for both new customers and staff.

“I feel we are continuing to find new people who are looking for cleaning services they trust, and we are also looking to hire more staff in order to keep growing. It's been a great business so far.”
