We invite you to celebrate MERA’s 25th year! Join us at the MERA Schoolhouse (974 Concession Road 9A Dalhousie, McDonalds Corners) on Saturday June 22nd from 10am to 3pm for Community Day at MERA.
There will be artists in action throughout the day, with basket makers, potters, weavers, woodworkers and painters displaying their products and demonstrating their art and craft. Watch artists at work and ask them how they do it! Children can join in and create their own art as there will be art activities for children throughout the day. An art exhibition will be on display in Dean Hall by the MERA Art Circle.
This day celebrates our community and all are welcome to come in on the fun and learn about MERA. Spend the day at MERA and enjoy breakfast goodies and lunch options from the MERA café. Wood-fired pizzas will be available for lunch as well. There will be an unveiling of MERA’s brand new community mural. This 8 foot by 12 foot mural was painted by dozens of volunteers of all ages, with at least one 90-year-old adding her artistic touch.
The MERA Schoolhouse (McDonalds Corners/Elphin Recreation & Arts) is celebrating 25 years of community rural arts. In its humble beginnings, MERA had a focus on heritage arts and crafts. The small schoolhouse has grown to host about 250 events throughout the year. Providing a space for artists to gather and work on their craft, MERA’s main groups now include Heritage Weaving, Pottery, Art Circle, Fibre Arts, and MERA’s Needle Pushers – Quilting Group.
