North Frontenac’s Lois Emond has dedicated 14 years of her life to build up the Land O’ Lakes Foodbank. She had built partnerships, made sure the shelves were always stocked, and spent countless hours driving to pick up, and drop off food, along with her husband Jean-Jacques (Red), a former and current President of the Lions Club of Land O' Lakes.

Every week, Lois turned up at the Foodland store to pick up food staples for the Foodbank, and made arrangements to have some orders delivered in person to people who could not drive to the depot to pick up their order.

For her tireless efforts, Lois has recently received the 2nd highest medal of volunteerism in Ontario: Queen Elizabeth II Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship (QEIIOMGC) in a ceremony overseen by the Lt. Gov of Ontario, Edith Dumont. Lois is one of only 11 recipients of this award in Ontario.

Husband Red, daughter Michelle, and grandson Sean are all justifiably proud of her achievements.

Lois' volunteerism is not limited to the food bank. She is an active and dedicated member of the Land O' Lakes Garden Club, the Treadles Quilting Group, and recently joined the Lions Club.

She has also been nominated for the North Frontenac Volunteer of the Year award in addition to her provincial honour.
