Bernie is survived by his partner Diane, brother John (UK), beloved daughter Debra (John), Mary Gates (Debras Mother), grandson Evan (Katrina), granddaughter Rachel (Bryce), Diane’s sons Matt (Leela) and Michael (Alex) and grandsons Edison and Alexander.
Bernie is also survived by a host of grateful collectors whom he mentored on the art of “picking” antiques, art, ceramics, furniture, and especially the folk art of decoys. Bernie authored three well-researched books on the Ontario decoy and has left as his legacy a free on-line reference archive, Ontario Decoys III, of data on Ontario carvers along with his skillful images of their work: ontariodecoys.ca
Bernie’s amazing life will be celebrated on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 1-4 pm at Golden Links Hall, 4186 Colebrook Road, Harrowsmith.
