It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley (Sam) Deveaux-Veley, age 87, who left us peacefully with her loving family at her side. Predeceased by her late spouse, Ronald (Red) Veley, her gentle soul and the profound impact she had on all who knew her will forever be cherished.

Shirley lived a life full of love, strength, and resilience. She was the devoted mother of George (Mary), Cheryl (the late Richard), and Brenda (Conrad), Stepmother to Matt (Jennifer) and Dan (Veronica), who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. Her children, inspired by her unwavering support and care, reflect the love she so generously gave throughout her life.

She was a proud Grandmother and an adoring great-grandmother. Her eyes always sparkled with joy whenever she was surrounded by her grandchildren, delighting in their laughter and accomplishments. She brought warmth to family gatherings, sharing stories, wisdom, and unwavering love that bonded us all together.

Shirley was known for her nurturing spirit and selflessness. She dedicated herself to her family, instilling values of respect, compassion, and determination. She had a gift for making every person she met feel valued and heard. Whether in her home, at a family function, or through a simple phone call, her presence was a comfort that will be deeply missed.

While we grieve the loss of such a beloved matriarch, we also celebrate her incredible life and the memories she created with all of us. Her legacy will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and in the countless lives she touched with her kindness and love.

Family and friends are invited to join us for a Graveside Service at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens, 2563 Perth Road, Glenburnie on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., to honour Shirley, where we will share our memories and offer prayers, just as she would have wanted. Immediately following the service, friends and family will be received at Inverary United Church, 4681 Latimer Road, Inverary.

Rest in peace, dear Sam. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
