It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Marcie on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Perth Hospital. Born and raised in Mountain Grove in 1944, Marcie married her high-school sweetheart, Wayne, on November 30, 1963. They shared a lifetime of memories, laughter and love, and rarely a night apart. Their love for one another was an inspiration to their family. Marcie was the loving mother of Dwaine (Karen) and Pam (Rick); cherished Nanna to Kristen (Jason), Tyler, Brandon, Ricki-Lee and Robin (Andrew) and proud Great-Nanna to Boe, Homer, Damian, Arthur, Cameron and Leo. She was a dear sister-in-law to Janet (Bob) and Jean (Carl). She was predeceased by her parents, Pauline and Russel Raymond, and her brother Roy. Marcie was loving, feisty, strong, positive and full of life. She loved spending time with family and friends, all her furry animals, nature, golf, curling, Mahjong, country music, dancing, and just a good ole time. Marcie was never one to hold back what she thought, and you always knew where you stood with her. She had a few rules too, for sure you better not come to the table wearing a hat. She was one of a kind, completely herself, with a personality and spirit that could never be duplicated. As Wayne’s work took their family to different communities across the province, Marcie embraced each new chapter, making a home for her family and finding work wherever life took them. For 30 years, Christie Lake was home, and the lake held a special place in her heart. And then there was Christmas. Marcie didn’t just love Christmas, she was Christmas. By November, the Christmas music was playing morning to night, and the decorating and celebrating had begun. She embraced the season with the kind of enthusiasm that was unmistakably Marcie. She had her own language and plenty of Marcie-isms, but perhaps the word most people will remember is “babe.” If Marcie called you babe, you knew you were loved. In the later years of her life, Marcie lived with dementia. While dementia became part of her journey, it was not what took her life. She died unexpectedly following an unrelated medical event or, as Marcie herself might have called it, “some unexpected thing-a-ma-jig.” Our family is deeply grateful to the nurses, doctors, and all the support staff at Perth Hospital for the exceptional care, compassion and kindness they provided during Marcie’s final days. We are also grateful to the Lanark Alzheimer’s Day Program, which was an important part of Marcie’s journey, and to the individuals at Perth Community Care who cared for her and whose kindness made a lasting difference. Marcie leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply and carry her love, laughter, hugs and spirit with them always. Hug your people. Say “I love you.” Keep dancing. And when November comes, turn up the Christmas music. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Althorpe Bolingbroke Community (ABC) Hall, 3166 Bolingbroke Road, Tay Valley, ON. A eulogy and time for reflection will be shared during the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marcie’s memory may be made to the Lanark Alzheimer Society of Ontario. All who knew and loved Marcie are welcome to join us in celebrating her life. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Milestone Funeral Home, Parham (613) 375-6254. Memories and condolences may be share
