Battersea/Storrington
by Chris Pantrey

What did the orange pumpkin say to the green pumpkin? Everything ok? You look a little sick!

Busy week here, getting ready for Pumpkinfest!! "Did you know..." will return next week :)

Helpful hint for our readers!  Last week, a large portion of the Battersea column was edited out, due to space limitations. However, if you check out The Frontenac News online, the full columns always appear there!

Pumpkinfest News:

Important reminder that Battersea Rd will be closed from 9:45 - 10:45 for the parade! Get to the village early! Thanks again to WTC for providing internet access for the day! We are hoping that this will provide tap and etransfer for our festival goers, however, this year will be a learning process! You can never go wrong with cash!

Coming from outside Battersea? The easiest access to the festival is to park at Storrington Public School and take a free shuttle bus into the village! Hogan Bus Lines is very generously donating 3 buses this year, for a very continuous shuttle loop! Only 2 more sleeps folks! And the weather looks picture perfect!  See you there!

Storrington Stinger News!

ICYMI... Both the junior and senior boys won the Limestone District soccer championship's last week!  And the girls went undefeated on their day, with 2 wins and 2 ties! WOW! Way to go Stingers!

The school set an ambitious $1000 goal for their Terry Fox Run last Friday. And Storrington Stingers never cease to amaze! Of course that number was reached! Thanks to our community, Storrington rocks!

Welcome October.... what a September we had. Colours should be beautiful this season..

Sydenham Legion is hosting a Halloween dance on Friday October 25th. Chelsea Road will be performing from 8-11:30. Costumes encouraged. Tickets on sale now. $10 @ Sydenham One Stop and The Legion. Should be a spooktacular night

Our annual Halloween candy top up is happening. Christine has graciously offered her home as a donation drop spot. Formerly Memory Lane Flowers 4350 Mill street. Just knock on door on street side. I also have a bin outside my door @ 4450 Portland ave for those who wish to drop here. This is an awesome way to help our village area witn the amount of kids we see on halloween night. Sometimes homes see 400-500 kids. Let's help our villagers out. And make Halloween awesome as usualon October 6th SFSC will be hosting its first ever competition for our wee ones. We will have to age categories: U 10 and U 13. Participants will make 5 center moss throws and then five throws at the lattleshiessen to produce a total score. Bianca Sinclair will be picking up some awesome prizes for the winners of this event. For the U10 we will have a defined throw spot that will be a little closer to the house / lattleshiessen. The U13 will throw from the official line. This event will begin at 10 am and be completed at 1 pm. And so if you have "any" youth that want to come and give this a shot, please bring them out. There is no cost. Please bring a water bottle and good shoes!

Line Dancing Wednesdays from 7pm - 8pm upstairs at the 496 Legion, Sydenham. $5.00 drop in fee, pay as you go. Starting October 9th. Then go downstairs for a beverage.
