Henderson

Thanks, folks, for helping the area wide peanut butter food bank challenge. I just learned that the Township office in Sharbot Lake has a donation box for each district - giving one more drop off spot until Dec. 16. So far, we in Kennebec are the nuttiest with 94 jars, Olden- 7; Oso 18 jars, Hinchinbrooke 23. Kennebec, let’s try for over 100 jars!!

Another area-wide concern is that late buses are not happening due to lack of funding, putting our kids at a disadvantage for sports and extracurricular events . A petition is circulating.

Deepest sympathy to Carson Clancy and family in the loss of Michelle (Clancy) Matney at age 37, whose life was celebrated this past week. Michelle was a loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, cousin, friend and so much more. We thank God for her life. A trust fund has been set up for her surviving infant son Theodore (E-transfers can be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) .

Apparently the cell tower on Henderson Road has been activated and folks hope for a better result than the new cell tower on the Mazinaw which only has only a one kilometre radius.

Our Arden Legion hosted a Christmas party for Community Living North Frontenac that featured crafts, games, darts, pool, turkey dinner bringing lots of smiles and laughs to one and all.

A bull moose and an elk have been spotted on Harlowe Road - getting ready to welcome Santa’s reindeer.

Our sister church, Arden United, is hosting a Christmas lunch this Sat. Dec. 7 from 11:30- 1pm, promising a scrumptious and splendid time munching on sandwiches, visiting, and creating some Christmas cheer.

Ompah
by Leane Bailey

A big THANK YOU to local businesses, community groups, individuals, North Frontenac Firefighters, and the Township of North Frontenac! Your kindness, generosity and hard work made the Children’s Christmas Party, and the Santa Claus Parade, a great success!

The elves have been busy in Ompah lately. Patty applied for grant from the township for a new sign board at the rest stop, after the other was destroyed by the wind.  Elves Patty and Geoff picked up the new sign and installed it at the Rest Stop across the road with help from elves Rick, Domenic and Stan.  Check out the new sign when you go by.

Elves Kathy, Paige, Lorrie and Marily decorated the Community Centre with lights and tinsel just in time for the Children's Christmas Party. The firehall was turned into a dining room where children and parents alike enjoyed great treats.  Thanks to elves Sue, Leane, Laurie, Lorrie and Marily who served the bountiful treats prepared by many community elves. Elves Michelle and Dylan along with their band of elves, organized crafts and face painting.  Then Santa arrived to give out presents to each of the children.   Santa anchored the evening parade of a dozen or so brightly lit up floats.  Thanks to all of the busy elves who created a day where children and parents, and the elves too, had smiles on all of their faces.

On Dec. 7th, at 2pm, The Tay Valley Choir presents “For the Music in Us – A Festive Mix” at the Maberly Hall, 180 Maberly Elphin Road. Admission by donation. You will recognize a few members of the Ompah community singing in the choir. Please join us as we celebrate the season with joyful music.

Ompah Christmas Cookie Exchange, Dec. 14th, 10am to 11am. Bring a dozen(s) of your favourite cookies to exchange with others, while enjoying a chat over tea/coffee/hot chocolate, and a few cookies with fellow cookie bakers.

The December Birthday Bash/Christmas Potluck is on Dec.18th at 6pm at the Ompah Community Centre. We are serving a delicious Beef Stew, so please bring along side dishes and desserts. We hope you will join us, as we sing Christmas Carols, and enjoy music from the Ompah Choir.
