The Godfrey Walking Group will host its first walk on January 18th at 0830hrs. Walkers will start from the Godfrey parking lot at K&P trail and head north towards Goodfellow Road. Exciting news: the Beckwith Skating Trail is now OPEN.
Skating Trail - 1 km loop at Beckwith Park, 1319 9th Line Beckwith (behind the Beckwith Recreation Complex). There are benches to put on your skates. The Skating Trail is conducive to outdoor conditions which vary. Please Skate to Trail Conditions. Please note that the trail is operating on a colouring code chart for maintenance. The colours will change throughout the season so please watch the Trail Sign at the entrance for the current colour code. Green = Good Condition, Yellow = Proceed with Caution, Red = Trail Closed. Special thanks to the Public Works Superintendent Glenn Rintoul and all the staff who have been working hard to prepare the trail. Grab your skates and helmet, and we will see you on the trail.

Alan Greene, local musician with over 25 years of entertaining background, is presenting a 'Community Musical Winter Interlude with Sing-a-long' on Thurs, Jan.23 from 2 to 4 at the Ompah Hall. Admission is $15. Refreshments will be served. This promises to be an exciting afternoon. Alan is a wonderful entertainer and will lead us in a few sing-a-longs.

The Community Cupboard fridge in the foyer of the Community Centre is quite full. There are many types of pasta, soups and canned goods. The Ompah Community Centre Association is purchasing milk, bread, fruit and veggies to add to the offerings. Feel free to come and take what you can use. or drop off what you have to spare. The use of the Cupboard is intended for everyone in the community.
The Community Cafe is held at the Ompah Hall the first Wednesday of each month from 11 to 1. An interesting topic is presented followed by a light lunch and social time. The Jan. 8 Cafe started 2025 off with a bang. Laura brought the information about a Tellegacy program for comments, questions and suggestions. The program is intended to link younger folk with older isolated folk through sharing stories and photos and interviews. At the end, the younger person prepares a life history booklet for the senior. All in attendance thought this could be a wonderful program and many were interested in becoming one of the interviewers, if the program goes ahead.

Plevna Euchre started back up on Tues, Jan 7th at the Plevna Clar-Mill Hall. 22 people came out to enjoy a fun night of card-playing with friends! No One Fights Alone... This certainly is proving itself with the support and outpouring of positivity for the fundraiser dance on Friday, January 24th for Kyley. Just a reminder at time of writing this: approximately 60 tickets remain and are available at The One Stop or Sydenham Legion branch 496 for $15. The silent auction, raffles and dance begin at 7pm. The generosity of our locals and community members is heartwarming. There will also be donation jars out should you wish to show your support and are unable to attend. SFSC will be hosting 2 euchre tournaments back to back on Jan. 25th and Feb. 15th. This will be held at Legion 496 in Sydenham ON. The funds raised from this will help the team represent Team Canada with the Canadian Ice Stock Federation head to Kapfenberg Austria for the World Ice Stock Championships.
The cost will be $20 per player which includes tasty light snacks and plenty of food donated on behalf of the club, and hopefully local sponsors. Drinks for purchase, remember "cash only bar".
You will be able to bring a partner and keep them the whole night or switch it up if needed. Feel free to come as a solo person and we can pair you up with another player!
Rules will be added at a later date, we are in the process of finalizing them for you!

A tropical vacation not in your budget? Why not paint a vacation image... Join the painting workshop with a tropical vacation theme on Jan 29, 1- 3pm at the Grace Hall, Sydenham. Materials provided but bring an apron, paper towels and a sense of fun! $5 donation for beginners to experienced (55+). Join us for the third Snow Social! This event is a celebration of the winter season and will feature activities at The Point Park and throughout the village of Sydenham, just 20 minutes north of Kingston. Admission is free, however, donations will be gratefully accepted. This is an all-weather event. Visitors should dress like a well-prepared Canadian and plan to take part in all sorts of winter fun, including snow tubing (conditions permitting) and firepits. We will have a vendor’s market, lots of live music, kids activities, and SNOW much more! Let's get some snow happening, Mother Nature!
2025 dog tags are now on sale and are just $15 until March 1, 2025. After March 1, the price will change to $30. View list of local retailers who sell Township dog tags on our website. Residents can also come into our temporary Township office at the Sydenham Library between 8am and 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, to pick up your tag.

We are all saddened by the passing of Peter Vandenbrink. Peter brought joy to our community as a talented member of the band Little Betty, captivating us with his music and vibrant presence. I will miss his warm and infectious smile whenever we met. Our heartfelt condolences to his partner Theresa Kenney and his family. A celebration of life will be held on January 19 at the Grizzly Grill in Kingston from 2 to 5pm.
Want to curl up with a book by the fire this winter? The Verona Free Methodist Church library is open to the public Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am to 1pm and Sundays from 9:30 to 10am, and 11:30 to noon. A wide variety of Christian novels, non-fiction books, CDs/DVDs for adults, youth and children are available. Check in at the church office.
WINTER WEEKEND WAKE-UP BREAKFASTS: Trinity United Church will be hosting a series of community breakfasts every Saturday in January from 8:30am to 11am. They will be serving eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, home fries, pancakes, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice and muffins. Payment by donation.
Style Revival Clothing Center will be open Saturday, January 25, from 10am to 1pm. Style Revival provides gently used clothing, free of charge. They are also open every Wednesday. Location at the Verona Free Methodist Church.
Family Fun Night for adults and children on Friday, January 31 from 7pm to 9pm. Verona Free Methodist Church. Bring your board games and light snacks. Children under 12 must be with an older sibling or parent/guardian.
Verona Diners Lunch Club for seniors (55+) will be held on Thursday, February 6 at the Verona Free Methodist Church. Lunch will be meatloaf, a side and dessert. Entertainment Mick Grice- Whiskey Smoke. Lunch is served at noon. Cost $ 10 Please call South Frontenac Community Services at 613-376-6477 ext 303 to reserve.
