Road signs had been strategically placed, catching the eye of passersby with the promise of the Annual Frontenac Farmer’s Market’s return to Centennial Park every Friday evening. As the week drew to a close and Friday afternoon arrived, a flurry of activity began. Vendors started to assemble their stalls, meticulously arranging their fresh produce, homemade baked goods, and handcrafted items. The parking area gradually became a hub of activity as visitors hoped to be among the first 50 attendees and receive a complimentary goodie bag. By half-past three, the parking lot was bustling with vehicles, the overflow areas and nearby streets were lined with cars, and pedestrians were milling about. Everyone was keen to discover which familiar faces had returned and what new vendors had joined the market this year.

The aroma of freshly grilled BBQ wafted through the air, with hamburgers being the star attraction for famished visitors. The food truck offerings were complemented by fluffy cotton candy and freshly baked, warm pretzels greeting guests at the entrance. A little goat, missing its mother, bleated amid the crowd, showing no interest in the throng of people passing by, all too eager to shower it with affectionate pats and kisses. The park’s sheltered area provided an ideal refuge in case of a downpour, and personalized tents were strategically arranged throughout the space.

The market season is set to run every Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM until October 25th, promising a feast of delicious food and a variety of vendors. These include seedling sales, live music performances, a dedicated Kid’s Zone, and a Beer Garden. Additionally, on May 31st, a Charity Pickleball Tournament will be held in support of 261 Fearless, right next to the market venue. Spectators can relish the thrill of the tournament while savoring fresh farm produce and delectable baked goods. It’s a perfect blend of entertainment and culinary delight!

On June 14th, visitors will have the opportunity to indulge in Wine & Beer Tastings courtesy of Bergeron Winery, K&P Brewery, and Rampant Kitchen, all while savoring some fantastic food. Fast forward to June 21st, and the Summer Solstice Party promises to be a grand affair. With gourmet food on offer, a beer garden hosted by K&P Brewery, and over 40 vendors showcasing their products, it’s sure to be a feast for the senses and a temptation for those with a keen eye for shopping. It’s an event not to be missed!
