If you are an association, group of engaged citizens, or a municipality interested in improving the vibrancy of your community, the Frontenac CFDC would like to hear from you. We will initially be selecting one community to work with in improving the vitality, range of local services and visual appeal of their village. Those interested in being selected are asked to provide a one-page letter demonstrating that their association/group has the leadership, the volunteers, and the support from their community. Also include some comments on what makes a vibrant community.
The Frontenac CFDC staff will assist the association in identifying grant opportunities and assist in the writing of grants. We will provide interest-free loans to eligible businesses for façade improvements and for the development of vacant or under-utilized commercial properties. In addition, we will provide training for local businesses, including “retail makeover” and marketing.
One of the tools that may be available to support the initiative is the Ontario Agriculture and Rural Affairs’ (OMAFRA) Downtown Revitalization program, which helps build civic capacity, facilitates key stakeholders to agree on a common vision and aids in managing the revitalization process. The Frontenac CFDC and County of Frontenac staff will work with OMAFRA staff to have this program offered.
Those interested in participating are asked to submit a letter to Anne Prichard, Frontenac CFDC, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or PO Box 53, Harrowsmith, ON, K0H 1V0 by September 16.
