Two terms are enough for South Frontenac Mayor Gary Davison, who also sat on Council for three years before being elected mayor in 2006. “It has been an honour serving the residents of South Frontenac for the last eight years, but I look forward to spending more time with my family and will not be seeking re-election.”
One candidate has already emerged to fill the vacancy from Davison's retirement. John McEwen, a long-time Verona resident has already filled out his nomination papers.
As well, Councilors Allan McPhail and current Deputy Mayor Ron Vandewal have indicated that they intend to run.
Nominations for the 2014 municipal election close on September 12. Electronic voting in all local townships begins on or about October 17 and election day is Monday, October 27.
