Great Pumpkin Carve Off

Flinton_buildAnother Great Pumpkin Carve-off Event has passed, with $500 in cash going to the Food Bank along with several boxes of food. The Oso Soldiers Memorial Hall saw many scary sights, from the graveyard on the front lawn, through the spider web at the front door to the haunted parlor (inhabited by Skeleton Tom Brown) on the stage. Madame Cheryl, our Fortune Teller, saw a constant stream of palmsthroughout the evening.The winners of the 16 and under pumpkin carvers were:The Funniest and Most Original - Emily DelyeaThe Most Artistic - Brandy ArmstrongThe Scariest - Joel HowesThere was only one entry in the 17 and over category, Angie Asselstine and Bob Lee. Their pumpkin won everything in that category!In the Business and Organization Category the winners were:The Scariest - W. A. Robinson & Associates Ltd.The Funniest - Marg's Discount ShoesThe Most Original - The Rising BunThe Most Artistic - The Rising BunThe winner of the Best in Show was W. A. Robinson & Associates Ltd. Marcel Giroux graciously accepted the Pumpkin Plaque donated by Rodger MacMunn of T. R. MacMunn & Sons.Many thanks go to our judges Rodger MacMunn, Bernie Slavin and John Waddingham.

Winners of the pumpkins were Marcel Giroux, Hillary Howes (two pumpkins!), Emily Delyea, Cheryl Armstrong, and Rosemarie Bowick.

The Silent Auction was a huge success, with donations from the Petro Canada General Store, The Rising Bun, the Royal Bank, O'Reilly Lake Campground, Gray’s Grocery, the Sharbot Lake Pharmacy, the Sharbot Lake Country Inn, the North Frontenac Telephone Company, Marg's Discount Shoes, Upper Frontenac Graphics, North Frontenac Bait Shop, Goodfellows Flowers, Junction Factory, Cottage Country Landscape and Design, T. R. MacMunn & Sons, and many, many individuals.Thank you to all the members of the community who participated in and supported this event.
