Last Wednesday March 25, community and fellow service organization members dropped by Rural Legal Services to thank Peter Graham for his 17 years of Legal Aid service in Sharbot Lake, and to celebrate his retirement.
Peter completed his undergraduate studies at Queens University and then attended law school at Osgoode Hall in Toronto. He came to Rural Legal Services in 1991, to fill in for Susan Irwin, who was going on maternity leave at the time, “I came for a year and stayed for 17,” he joked.
Peter Graham has provided law advice, representation and advocacy, and community legal education for the northern parts of Frontenac County and Lennox and Addington.
“A few years ago when Bill (Florence) came to work with us, I realized that he could have been my son”. Time seems to have slipped by for Peter, who has been practicing law for 31 years.
“It’s been a delight to work in this community, what a great place to be,” he said.
