This Little Piggy Went to Market… and Fed the Community

Recently, Southern Frontenac Community Services received a generous donation to their foodbank, a pig and cow, raised by local youth, as their summer 4-H Project. They were purchased at auction by Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Co. This donation was delivered to SFCSC by Nadine and Dalton Arthur, who attended the auction at Kingston’s Fall Fair, and bid on behalf of Quinte Mutual Insurance Co.

All of the meat, 651 lbs of beef and 295 lbs of pork, were donated to SFCSC’s foodbank, providing community members in need with high-quality protein. This generous gift not only supports the foodbank but also celebrates the hard work of young, 4-H members in our community. Thank you to Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Co., for giving back in such a meaningful way.

This donation was truly a community effort, from the 4-H youth who raised the animals, to the local business that purchased them, the butchers who prepared the meat, and the individuals who delivered it to the foodbank. Together, many hands helped bring this contribution to the community.

For Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Co., donations like these are an important way to give back to the communities they serve. By supporting 4-H youth, local agriculture, and foodbanks, they strengthen their community connections, and show that their commitment goes beyond business to caring for people in times of need. “It’s inspiring when businesses coordinate their efforts to support the community, reminding us of the powerful change that can happen when people work together toward a mutual goal” shared Heather Rogers, Executive Director of SFCSC.

SFCSC is deeply appreciative of this generous donation, which will provide comfort and nourishment to many residents facing food insecurity throughout South Frontenac. Throughout the season of giving, it serves as a powerful reminder of the spirit of kindness, the importance of community, and the difference that can be made when people come together to support one another
