Tree Dedication to Honour Founding RFCS Members
: One of the earlier logos for Ontario’s first rural multi-service hub, now known as
Rural Frontenac Community Services, was a tree with deep foundational roots depicting the organizational
vision: “We believe in strong communities”.
Like that tree and vision statement, Rural Frontenac Community Services and the community it serves are, 50 years later, still going strong. It is therefore fitting that on this occasion of the 50th anniversary and Annual General Meeting of Rural Frontenac Community Services that we
take a few minutes to recognize our founding members and dedicate this tree in their honour.
North Frontenac Community Services, now known as Rural Frontenac Community Services, was incorporated on March 1, 1975, and became the first multi-service rural hub in Ontario.
The first Directors of the organization included Gail Lewis -Mountain Grove, Marcel Giroux-Sharbot Lake, Peter Bell-Sharbot Lake, Clive Wilson- Sharbot Lake, Helen Vizely -Sharbot Lake, Margaret Sweet – Sharbot Lake, Albert Cox-Arden, Wayne Robinson – Parham, David
Summers -Plevna and Anne Knapp-Tichborne.
May this tree, our community and the services and programs delivered by RFCS to support this community flourish and grow
over the next 50 years.
