Three Groups Honoured With 2025 Frontenac Access Award
Ashleigh Peck of Purely Mobile Hygiene, Mike and Nawar Hage of Myers Cave Resort, and Janet Gutowski representing the Central Frontenac Housing Corporation (CFHC) are recipients of the 2025 Frontenac Access Award.
The Access Award was created in 2013 in partnership between Frontenac County and the Frontenac Accessibility Advisory Committee to recognize and celebrate those who make significant contributions towards improving access for people with disabilities in Frontenac County. Ashleigh Peck operates Purely Mobile Hygiene, a mobile dental hygiene business that facilitates home-call access to dental care. Her clients include people living with mobility challenges and for whom visiting a dental office is overstimulating. Ms. Peck provides services to people who live in retirement and long-term care homes, and who live in rural areas of Frontenac.
Mike and Nawar Hage, proprietors of Meyers Cave Resort in Cloyne, are building a new lodge with accessible, ground-floor accommodations equipped for people who use wheelchairs or other assistive mobility devices. Their seasonal employees include people who are neurodivergent and who are living with physical disabilities.
The Central Frontenac Housing Corporation (CFHC) is represented by Janet Gutowski, Chair of the North and Central Frontenac Non-Profit Housing Corporations. CFHC has completed a redesign and redevelopment of its building and parking areas in Sharbot Lake to improve accessibility for people living with disabilities. New features include an additional walkway to the building, a rolled curb, handrails, a door opener, and an accessible outdoor seating area.
The award was presented by Frontenac County Deputy Warden Bill Saunders and County Councillor Nicky Gowdy on behalf of the Frontenac Accessibility Advisory Committee and Frontenac County Warden Gerry Lichty at the Warden’s Wine and Cheese celebration at Clar-Mill Hall in Plevna, November 17
