Awakenings Lakeside Wellness Studio Brings A New Kind Of Calm
The stress of moving can be overwhelming as you plan every detail. Movers, packing materials, and the logistics of years of nesting that must then be carefully wrapped up and prepared for the next phase of lifeDuring my search for used boxes and paper, I came across a post from a lady who lived north of us and reached out to coordinate the pickup.
Her new home was a lovely place up a winding drive. The neighbourhood appeared out of nowhere and was quietly nestled amongst the trees on Crow Lake. A friendly group greeted us and literally loaded us down with boxes and boxes filled with crisp brown paper. A front-end loader moved them, and we jammed the truck full. These things were ‘gold’ for us.
Once home, I began to pack, and a few boxes caught my eye … There seemed to be many boxes that wafted with lavender and other yummy scents, and it looked as though the owner, Deanna, had been into yoga and other careers. I did not think too much about it until we had moved and our paths crossed yet again.
Her name was Deanna LaFontaine, and she is becoming integral part of the community. She reached out after realizing I was a writer for the Frontenac News. She explained that she was hosting an opening event for her new studio, Awakenings Lakeside Wellness, for local residents. Her website (www.awakeningsstudio.com) lists her credentials as a professional esthetician and yoga instructor, among others.
Some of her many services are: Customized Collagen Rejuvenating Facials; Reiki/Sound Baths/Reflexology; Ear Candling; Hyperbath Ion Foot Detox; Aromatherapy/Hot Stone/ Thai Yoga Massage; and Eyebrow & Lash Tinting.
This fall, Awakenings hosted its very first retreat on Crow Lake. More retreats are being planned for the new year, along with Spa & Stay packages and small group wellness gatherings designed for anyone who needs a reset, a recharge, or just a reason to spend a day by the water.
Deanna is also offering free Crystal Alchemy Sound Bath Sessions (in exchange for a food donation for the North & Central Frontenac Food Bank) this month (December 6th, 9th, and 15th), and she looks forward to making new connections. Registration will be required through the website.
'Tis the season foir giving and gift certificates can be purchased by calling 519-954-0969.
Welcome to the neighbourhood!
