Vision Soup Fundraiser Marks 20th Anniversary, and Final Year for Long-time Organizers

The annual Vision Soup fundraiser celebrated a significant milestone on November 8th, marking its 20th anniversary. The beloved community event, organized each year by Leslie Reade and Josey Steel, raises funds in support of SFCSC’s food bank programs and services. Kicking off the holiday season, this fundraiser plays a vital role in helping the food bank support families and individuals in need. This year, a total of $10,180.00 was raised.

For two decades, Vision Soup has been a wonderful fundraising event in South Frontenac, bringing community members together to enjoy homemade soups, artisan pottery bowls, and a strong spirit of giving. Reade shared that for her and Steel, hosting the event has always been “our way of giving back to the community.” This year was no exception, with guests contributing both food items and monetary donations to help support families in need.

Co-organizer Josey Steel expressed deep appreciation for the community’s long-standing support. “We have been so fortunate that you, our wonderful community, have been very supportive in helping us to raise money for families in need,” she said. “The community’s generosity has not gone unnoticed, and is much appreciated year after year. That being said, after a great deal of thought, we have decided that this year will be the final year that Leslie and I will be hosting this fundraiser.”

As the event marks both a milestone and a transition, heartfelt thanks go to Leslie and Josey for their remarkable contributions over the past 20 years. Their dedication has helped strengthen local food security and has inspired countless acts of generosity.

A warm thank you also goes out to the many volunteers who helped make each event possible, as well as to the community groups who donated soups, buns, treats, and more. Special appreciation to the potters who generously provided their beautifully crafted bowls, an iconic part of Vision Soup’s event.

Even as this chapter closes for the organizers, the impact of Vision Soup will continue to be felt across the community for years to come.
