The Roar - January Blues

In the blues of January, I write this Roar.

A few months ago our Lions Club of Land O’ Lakes held a "no-money exchange" Casino Night; and everyone was in tears of laughter. So, we decided to bring laughter one more time to our community.

For the first time in the Land O’ Lakes, on March 28, we will welcome family-friendly, Comedian Timmy Boyle.

In the words of Victor Hugo: "Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face." And are we not all in need of that sun right now.

While we await the sun and warm weather, and await the sun brought in by the laughter over the witty bits of Boyle; we decided to create a bit of sunshine of our own.

We dedicated our efforts, and asked the community to do the same, to support the Foodbank in it's continued fight against hunger.

And amid that, a little bit of sunshine came our way too; in the form of being selected as the recipients of the Canadian Choice Award for Non-Profit Organizations.

Now, between our longing for belly-laughs and days of endless suns it turns out January is not so blue after all.

Till we meet again in a Roar, keep up your spirits, enjoy the little boosts of sunrays whenever they appear, and meet us at the hall February 16, for a morning filled with family fun.
