KXO - A Timber Frame Design And Construction Company In Cloyne
For five years now, KXO has been designing and building custom timber frame and log homes with a passion for traditional building techniques.
Owners Danielle and Istvan have been involved with construction their whole lives, and after building their own timber frame home, they fell in love with the process. What began as a personal project soon became their business, KXO Timber Frame. They work with a small crew of employees, taking projects from design to production while utilizing locally sourced timber, often from as close as Bancroft. Danielle has a BCIN certification, which allows her to handle most residential designs and the permitting process with the township, while Istvan is the lead craftsman.
After milling, done mainly on site at their wood yard, they begin the time-honoured task of assembling large timbers into the core structure of their custom designs. Once complete, the structures can be packed onto trailers and shipped virtually anywhere. Danielle noted that they have completed projects as far away as Toronto, where local contractors assemble the final product. Jobs closer to home are built by the KXO crew from start to finish.

Primarily using wood joints and oak dowel pins, their structures have the rustic character of a traditional barn. While they’ve done post-and-beam projects, defined by the use of steel brackets and fasteners, their passion lies in true timber framing and the craftsmanship of wood joinery. This is showcased in their own home, which they use to tour prospective clients. It features an expansive ceiling, a large rear loft, a wall of windows capturing lake views at the front, and a solid wood slab staircase; which Danielle says is one of their most popular features.
They are currently booking projects into 2027 and continue to take on new design work for barns, pergolas, entryways, and full custom homes. For more information, they can be reached at 613-484-2878 and at [email protected].
