Maurice Leveillé On AH Council
Addington Highlands Council met on February 10, in a special meeting to choose a replacement in Denbigh Ward for Tony Fritsch, who took on the role of Reeve after Henry Hogg died in late October, 2025.
There were two candidates for the position, Leveille – who is known as Mo, and Royce Rosenblath. Each candidate provided a written statement of their credentials for the role, and were given ten minutes to address Council, and then were given an opportunity to answer the same set of questions.
Leveille said that he has been visiting the township seasonally for 43 years, at Snider’s Resort, and then moved to Denbigh on a permanent basis, with his wife Elaine, three years ago. He has become very active with the Denbigh-Griffith Lions Club, and through that, a number of other local groups, including the local food bank.
In his working life, he spent time with Nortel, Compaq, Dell and Ottawa Community Housing.
Royce Rosenblath, who narrowly lost out in the 2022 election, spent 30 years working as a municipal employee, including a stint as roads and waste supervisor with Addington Highlands, before he retired. He said he understood the needs of Staff, Council and residents, and was willing to commit himself to helping improve the township as a member of council.
The four members of council then voted by hidden ballot. Clerk/Administrator Christine Reed read the ballots out. Mo Leveille received three votes to one for Royce Rosenblath and was declared the winner. He will take the oath of office at the next regular meeting, on February 17th.
