MERA presents Maggie's Wake
Celtic Tradition meets Roots Swagger
Music at MERA is proud to present the award-winning Celtic quartet, Maggie’s Wake, at the MERA Schoolhouse in McDonald’s Corners on Sunday, March 15th at 2:00 pm.

Fresh off their acclaimed debut at Ireland’s premier music industry showcase, Maggie’s Wake are back on North American soil touring their fiery fusion of Celtic tradition and roots swagger.
These 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award winners are a “new trad” folk group from Ontario creating an exciting splash in the roots music scene! Expect driving jigs and reels, soaring whistles, double fiddle, flashes of country twang not to mention Cajun/global roots twists that’s pure joy from start to finish.
United in their passion for toe-tapping tunes, soaring vocals with rich harmonies, meaningful stories and beautiful melodies, Maggie's Wake embraces their wide ranging influences and have built an exciting, new sound. This female-fronted band feature award winning songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Tara Dunphy and award winning violinist/fiddler, songwriter & composer, Lindsay Schindler, backed by the stellar musicianship of Andrew Kosty on bass and Kenneth Palmer on guitar.
The powerhouse quartet came together only in late 2022 and quickly began touring their home province, playing small halls, some festivals and theatres, which went over so well that they actually sold out many dates on their first “Spirit of the Season” holiday tour that December. Their debut, self-titled album won the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award for ‘New Artist of the Year’, they launched a Holiday EP at the close of 2025, and they’re set to release their sophomore album in May.
Thanks to the generous support of the Ontario Arts Council we are able to offer $15 tickets for those under 30 and their companion. Regular tickets are $35, and all tickets are available at TicketsPlease.ca
