Odd Fellows Donate to South Frontenac Stocksport

Members of the Odd Fellows Lodge (Athena) #306 and the Rebekah Lodge (Princess Elizabeth) #358 in Harrowsmith gathered at the Golden Links Hall on 9 April 2026 to present the South Frontenac Stocksport U16 Team with cheques to support their trip to Oberwart (Burgenland) Austria for the International Ice Stock Federation Youth Tournament on August 5 to 8 2026.
For these four young lads and their families, this opportunity means everything to them. While Stocksport may still be considered a fringe sport in Canada, these kids will be representing Team Canada in an international competition for the very first time in our county’s history.
What is Ice Stocksport (Eisstock)? Eisstock is a traditional European sport, often compared to clurling, where players slide a piece call a “stock” down a lane of ice toward a small target known as the “daube”. The goal is to finish closest to the target, but along the way, players can knock opponents’ stocks out of position making it a game of both skill and strategy.
While it has deep roots in European countries, Eisstock has quietly found a strong and growing home here in South Frontenac. What started as a small, passionate group has grown into a thriving local club that brings together youth, families and community members in a sport built on connection, respect and fun.
The U16 Team athletes will now have the opportunity to travel to Austria to compete internationally. They won’t just be representing Canada, they will be proudly carrying the spirit of South Frontenac with them.
The support of the lodges is not only helping these four boys, it is helping to build the future of Stocksport in Canada. Additional support for the U16 Team Canada has been provided by the Harrowsmith S&A Club and the Verona Lions Club for which they are truly grateful. Thank you.
