A Green Volunteer
Rebecca Clark has been picking up litter from the roadsides & ditches in our community for over 20 years. Three years ago she approached the Garden Club and the Lions to see if they were interested partnering with her to broaden the scope of this and they both said yes. Thus, Pitch in for Mother Earth (PI4ME) was established. On or around Earth Day each year there is an event that the community is encouraged to participate in by going out and picking up as much litter as they can.

She and her committee approached our two Townships to see if they would endorse such an undertaking and they said yes. Addington Highlands offered to drop a large container at the Barrie Hall in Cloyne and North Frontenac allowed the use of the hall and its parking lot for the event. They allow for their waste sites to remain available for a week so people who want to continue to pick up beyond the event date.
She hopes to be part of the Adopt a Highway campaign and would continue to keep stretches of our roads litter free for more than just a one day event.
This is the 3rd year for PI4ME and it was a huge success with many people coming out and pick up litter and we filled that big container. The children at NAEC picked up for us and Rebecca has worked with local businesses to help them keep their premises cleaner.
If anyone deserved recognition it’s Rebecca Clark. If you consider this, please get in touch and I can answer any questions you might have. I’m Rebecca’s Communications Officer
