Sharbot Lake Lions’ Update on Activities – Get Your Rain Barrel On!

Spring in the Frontenacs brings a welcome return to warmer temperatures, lush greenery, and beautiful vistas. There is no better place to witness this transformation than on one of the many multi use trails that wind through the area. The spring peepers announce the season’s arrival well before the landscape begins to green, followed by the fiddleheads and, my personal favourite, the blooming trilliums. We are truly blessed to have these trails to enjoy.

The Lions’ spring season kicked off with our Trees for E-Waste promotion, followed by our rain barrel sale. The original distribution date for the rain barrels was set for May 16th, but due to shipping delays, it had to be rescheduled. We have since received our order, and a new distribution date will be announced soon. Please check our Facebook page for updates at Sharbot Lake Lions Club Facebook Group.

If you missed out but would still like to purchase one, we have you covered. Extra barrels were ordered, and they are still available by contacting us at [email protected]. Or call or text at 416-523-5936

50/50 draw tickets are now on sale, with the winner to be drawn during the Canada Day celebration. Only 1,500 tickets are available, and with last year’s winner taking home over $1,100, you will not want to wait too long to get yours. To purchase tickets, contact any Lion or email us at [email protected]

Our next famous all you can eat breakfast will be served on May 30th starting at 8:30-10 am. at Soldiers Memorial Hall in Sharbot Lake. The menu features beans, fluffy pancakes, BBQ sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, fruit salad, coffee, tea, and juice. Fill your belly, catch up with family and friends, and help us help others. As an added bonus, if you bring your own plate and utensils, your name will be entered into a draw for a future free breakfast.

Seniors Day is scheduled for October 17th at the OSO Hall. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the Sharbot Lake and District Lions Club, and we will be celebrating with an evening 50’s themed dance. Space for this event will be limited, so be sure to check our Facebook page regularly for updates and additional details as they become available.

As always, we sincerely thank everyone who supports us. Without your generosity, we would not be able to continue supporting the many programs and initiatives we do within and outside our community. We would also like to give a special thank you to Conboy's Maple Syrup for generously supplying their delicious maple syrup, and to The Frontenac News for helping us spread the word. Last, but by far not the least, we thank those non-Lion volunteers who help out selflessly at our functions. Margo, for example, is usually serving at all of our breakfasts, thank you.

If you are not for profit organization and could use a helping hand with a community benefiting event, please reach out to us. We are always happy to help when we can
