Steven Leonard to Run for South Frontenac Mayor

As it stands now, all of the sitting councillors in South Frontenac are running, and no one has stepped forward to challenge any of the 8 seats around the council table.

But the Mayor’s spot is a different story, A third candidate has stepped forward to challenge three term incumbent Ron Vandewal, and former Bedford Councillor, and one-time Chief Building Official, Alan Revill.

Steven Leonard has never sat on council, but he has appeared before council on a number of occasions to talk about changes to farm designations in the official plan and to oppose the development of subdivision in Hartington. where he lives and farms.

On one notable occasion last year, he was asked to leave a council meeting because of his passionate advocacy, almost leading to an altercation.

Leonard had indicated earlier this year that he was planning to run for Mayor. There was a three way race for Mayor in 2022 in South Frontenac, which Ron Vandewal won with A 48% vote share.

There have been no new candidates entering the race in North or Central Frontenac over the last week.

In Addington Highlands, the race has not even started yet, as there are still no candidates registered for council or Reeve.
