Chloe is a top student at NAEC. She received both the Gold Watch award for top academic achievement and the PEARL Award, which celebrates her athletic leadership and commitment to school sports.

She participates in a variety of sports: archery, softball, badminton, cross country, volleyball, and track and field, serving as captain of the NAEC Volleyball team.

She is also a committed volunteer, having raised $3,500 for student housing and transportation through a walk-a-thon event.

“Perhaps most remarkably, Chloe has achieved all of this while overcoming significant personal adversity. Her resilience, courage, and ability to persevere through challenges speak to her exceptional character,” said the letter of recommendation sent by her school to the board.

Mia Comeau has been the rural student trustee to the Limestone District School Board over the past year. She has extended this role to the regional level, serving as the Eastern Regional Representative of the public cabinet for the Ontario Student Trustees Association. In that role, she connects student trustees in the eastern region and provides student trustees support with their roles.

She also a high achieving STEM pathway student, winning academic awards for highest grade average in grades 9,10, and 11.

Her main sport is volleyball, and she won the junior and senior coaches awards for volleyball at GREC,

“She is a curious, passionate, and driven student with strong leadership skills and empathy for the people she meets. We are proud of her accomplishments and contributions and are honored to call her a Gryphon,” said the letter of recommendation sent by her school to the board.

Kayl’s academic record is impressive. Her lowest mark ever in her four years at SHS was 91%, and she averaged 97.3% in Advanced Functions, University Physics, and Advanced French in her first term this year.

Her teachers note her “amazing attention to detail” as one of the reasons for consistent grades in the high 90’s over her time at SHS.

Her focus on the athletic front is track, and she has put in five runs per week since November, as well as weight training.

She also does a lot of mentorship work with younger students both as a camp counsellor and at a local elementary school.

“Above all, Kayl’s efforts always make life at SHS a better place for her peers and staff – she is a deserving recipient of the Limestone Student Achievement Award,” said the letter of recommendation sent by her school to the board.
