August Events At The Kingston Frontenac Public Library
We’ve had an amazing summer so far at the Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL), and there’s still plenty of fun to enjoy this August!
KFPL’s Summer Reading Challenges run until August 22, so there’s still time to participate for your chance to win fantastic prizes. Sign up on Beanstack to log your reading minutes, complete activities and earn tickets toward multiple prize draws. Prize highlights include a Nintendo Switch 2, a TV, AirPods, bikes, a Yoto Player, Air Toobz, a YMCA family pass, a KitchenAid Mixer, hotel stays and more. Don’t forget to visit your local branch to share your latest reads on the Wall of Achievement.
Our beloved Puppet Show Tour continues this month with performances at Storrington Centre on Tuesday, August 4, from 2 to 2:30 p.m., and at the Sharbot Lake Branch on Wednesday, August 5, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. For children ages six and under, these lively shows feature stories, songs and dancing. No registration is required.

Looking for an outdoor activity? Join us every Friday from August 7 to August 28 for Stories at the Point at Sydenham Point. From 10:30 to 11 a.m., children of all ages can enjoy a relaxed lakeside storytime filled with stories, songs and fresh air.
Get creative at the Cloyne Branch on Tuesday, August 11, from 11 a.m. to noon during Brick by Brick. Patrons of all ages are invited to build with LEGO and DUPLO, and every participant will receive a free pair of LEGO glasses to take home.
Children ages 6 to 12 can also unleash their creativity at ChompSaw Creations on Wednesday, August 12, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Sharbot Lake Branch. Using cardboard and kid-safe tools, participants will design and build their own imaginative creations.
You’ll also find KFPL at the Parham Fair on Saturday, August 15. Stop by our booth to sign up for a library card, learn about upcoming library programs and browse a selection of books.
That same day, join us at Point Park in Sydenham for Bubble Bash, a family-friendly celebration filled with hands-on activities, bubbles and plenty of opportunities to explore, play and create together.
Did you know you can stream award-winning movies, documentaries, indie films, TV shows and more on Kanopy for FREE with your library card? Download the app to watch from the comfort of home on your favourite device, anytime.
KFPL patrons can read all about it on PressReader! Your library card gives you unlimited access to your favourite newspapers, magazines, puzzles and games! Choose from titles such as the Kingston Whig-Standard, Toronto Star, Canadian Living, New York Times, The Economist and more. The app is available in the browser and as an app.
