Sharbot Lake & District Lions Club
As summer comes to a close, the Sharbot Lake and District Lions Club is gearing up for a special year ahead. The club charter was established 75 years ago on September 28, 1951. To commemorate this milestone, the club is holding a special event on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Verona Lions Club. Lions from across the district will join together to celebrate and recognize the many contributions of Sharbot Lake Lions over the last 75 years. On Saturday October 17, the SLAD Lions will host a community celebration with a 50’s themed dance at Oso Hall. Earlier that day, seniors from the area are invited to our annual Seniors Day featuring entertainment, music and snacks.
Although the club doesn’t formally meet during the summer months, we continue to volunteer, provide service and raise funds. In July and August, Lions volunteers packed and distributed Good Food Boxes in partnership with the Sharbot Lake Health Team. Lions volunteered at the gate and ran the Beer Tent for the Parham Fair. Money raised from the summer community breakfasts will be donated to Ontario Wildfire Relief with the last breakfast of the summer on Saturday August 29, 2026 at Oso Hall. Come out anytime between 8 am and 10:30 am to enjoy fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, our famous grilled sausages and baked beans along with toast, coffee, tea or juice. Pure maple syrup is generously donated by Conboys. Throughout the summer, Lions Club members have collected the bottles and cans donated by community members at two local dumps. The refunded money from this endeavor goes directly back to the community.
Local organizations may request funding from the Lions Club by completing a request form. Applications are considered in October and April. Send an email to [email protected] to request an application form. Limited funds are available so be sure to submit your application as soon as possible.
