Election Signs Removed in Cloyne

A number of election signs that were put up by North Frontenac Ward 1 candidate Mike Hage have been remove from locations on Road 506, Harlowe Road, Skootamatta Road, Myers Cave Road, and Hwy 41, and in the hamlet of Cloyne

After noticing signs missing near his home on Road 506, Hage decided to drive around the ward to see if any others are missing, and found that of the 40 signs that he has put up, 5 are still standing and 35 are gone..

“Two of the ones that are still up are on my own property, and at least two of the other three are located where there are cameras in place,” Hage said, in a phone interview with the Frontenac News

He also said that most of his signs were located on private property, with permission from the property owners.

Hage, who finished third in the 2022 election, was appointed to council to replace Stephanie Regent in February of this year. He indicated at the time that he planned to run this fall. Long-time incumbent Wayne Good is also running in ward 1, as are first time candidates Cyndy Bonello and Gwen Glover.

There are signs up around ward 1 for all three mayoralty candidates (Art Hannigan, Gerry Lichty, and Kelly Willis) as well as Cyndy Bonello and Gwen Glover. Wayne Good does not have signs up.

“I don’t know if any of the other candidates have had signs removed,” Hage said

He has reported the crime to the OPP, who said will contact him to launch an investigation. ■
