Under The Rink Market

What started out as a simple plan to help local artisans/crafters/rep sell their wares, has turned into a heartwarming way of giving back to those that support us.

Last year was the first ever – Under the Rink Vendor Market event the first Sunday of the month from May to September. Customers and supporters came from all over to check out the 20 plus vendors that showed up each week to display their items in hopes to find the right customers. This great group of vendors became not only the monthly faces of the market but so much more. Friends were made and a true connection was established.

Over the summer, along with spots “rented” to a regular list of vendors, spots were also offered to service groups including the Lions, Connections Adult Learning, the local food bank, Henderson United Church and the GREC prom committee. From the fees collected, market signs were purchased as well as newspaper advertisements with the leftover funds being donated to OSO District Recreation committee, the North and Central Frontenac Food Bank and Churches within Olden, Kennebec and Hinchinbrooke. All Districts were able to benefit from this Under the Rink Market! This year the Market is held on the Last Sunday of the month with the last one running this past Sunday.

So now is your opportunity to support the vendors who support the community we live in. But not to worry, a fall night market is set for Saturday, October 24. There will be a variety of items at that market, including: spices, jams, homemade cards, Tupperware, soaps, sourdough breads, jewelry, crotched items, knitted items, handsewn items, and homebaking.

The market is all about community supporting small businesses and small businesses supporting the Community! See you Under the Rink on October 24
