Sharbot Lake Lions
Although there are few things in life that are certain, the speed at which summer comes and goes is certainly one of them. It seems like only yesterday that the trilliums were starting to carpet the forest floor, and now the falling leaves are taking their place. Nonetheless, we are blessed to live in such a beautiful area, where every season brings gorgeous vistas and endless activities to enjoy.
Although your Sharbot Lake Lions take a break from our twice-monthly meetings during the summer, that doesn't mean the behind-the-scenes planning comes to a halt, as you'll see from our October lineup of activities.
Starting on October 17th, we have a doubleheader of events, both featuring a 50s and 60s theme. Our annual Seniors' Day kicks off at 4 p.m. at Oso Hall in Sharbot Lake. This free event for seniors aged 60 and over is always well received and features live music, refreshments, prizes, and, of course, skits performed by our club members.
Next, starting at 7 p.m., we'll be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Sharbot Lake and District Lions Club serving our community. This is a 19+ licensed event, open to the entire community, with entry by donation at the door. Again, this will be a 50s and 60s themed event, so come dressed in your best retro attire. Snacks will be provided, and a DJ will keep the dance music playing throughout the evening.
Rounding off our October events will be our monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast, also held at Oso Hall, starting at 8 a.m. on October 24th. Come enjoy a hearty breakfast featuring fluffy pancakes, beans, scrambled eggs, BBQ sausages, toast, coffee, tea, and juices. Bring your family and friends, knowing that you're enjoying a great breakfast while supporting a great cause. As always, guests who bring their own plates and utensils will be entered into a draw for a free breakfast at a future event.
We are currently selling 50/50 tickets, with the winning ticket being drawn on December 31st at 7 p.m. What a way to ring in the new year, with a little extra cash in your pocket! Our Canada Day draw saw the lucky winner take home $1,070. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and can be purchased at any of our events or through any club member.
