Line Spike 3.0
Jeremy Campbell, the relentless promoter behind Line Spike, went through a course of cancer treatments after organising and executing the second annual Line Spike Music Festival, in late June.
But that has not slowed him down, and plans for a third, further revamped Line Spike Festival, on the July long weekend, celebrating Canada's 160th birthday.
With Canada Day taking place on a Thursday next summer, Line Spike will run for three days, starting on Friday, July 2nd, with Female Friday; all of the bands will be women led acts throughout the day and evening.
The festival is still eight months away, and we all have winter to contend with first, but early bird tickets ($115 per person, free parking) are already available, and the first swath of bands were revealed this week.
One of the highlights this year is a performance by Chest Fever, the Official Revival of The Band. They will perform a show they have put together this year to mark the 50th anniversary of “The Last Waltz” , a show in San Francisco that was immortalised in the 1976 film by Martin Scorsese. Special guests will join Chest Fever to recreate the impact of the special guests who graced the stage 50 years ago.
In addition, Jeremy has been scouring the region for the best young talent to showcase at Line Spike next summer.
So far, Lake Porter and Hansom Eli, who are both Quebec based, have signed on, along with
Jessican Wolowich (Kingston), Dusty Coyote (Gananoque), Elexus Harley (Harrowsmith), Spencer Green (Yarker), and Lydia Shay (Kingston).
Jeremy expects to bring in about 25 bands for the July, 2027 weekend long festival, which will take place once again, just west of Harrowsmith, at the Day Farm, on Harrowsmith-Sydenham Road.
