Re: Beaver baffles can’t replace trapping
On the front page of your June 2 issue there was an article on beaver trapping, and advice to Addington Highlands and two other adjacent Townships, on how this should be conducted. A group called The Association for the Protection of Fur Bearing Animals (APFBA) offered a variety of techniques to prevent trapping. Where do these urban, ‘pointy headed’ terrorists to rural, traditional life styles come from? What have they ever done for Addington Highlands (AH) that earns them the right to give us advice? Council is correct to ignore such.
My family owns 85 acres of unimproved and fairly inaccessible land in AH, upon which is a sizable pond that often contains beavers. About 20 years ago, the beaver dam released and took out a section of Hwy #41 to the extent that it was closed for 3 days. While I have the local trapper monitoring the dam build up and harvesting the beavers on a sustainable basis, I welcome the regulation that allows the township to take action without my consent so that the traveling public are not in danger and the expense of road repair is avoided.
Anecdotally, there are more beaver in Canada than before the arrival of the Europeans and the fur trade, which was the prime reason for the development of this country and why we have a Canada today. Coincidentally, I am a Director of the North West Company, which ‘inherited’ the original trading posts of both the NWC and the HBC-close to 100 in Northern and remote Canada-and am fully aware of their role in the building of this country and the importance today of the Frontenac Trappers Council.

Re: Central Frontenac Fined for Illegal Gravel Pit
Does anyone know the details to the mystery of the stolen gravel in Kennebec?
Has the issue been muddied?
Will we ever find out or get an answer publicly from the staff or the politicians on the responsibility of this issue?
Will this all be swept under the carpet?
Do we all feel we have been taxed redundantly?
Is this issue being dealt with under the "official secrets act"?

Re: Harper vs Gadafi
Perhaps the wisdom-endowed Carmel Gowan (Re: Harper and Gaddafi 9/6/11 edition of Frontenac News) can answer a few questions from one of them "thar" "Far Rightists" that she seems to see under the beds of CPC supporters in Canada.
Equating the CPC with the far right as she does, and associated it with individuals who are really leftists, I would ask upon what does she presuppose her line of reasoning?
Her comments on the long gun registry need qualification. In fact, what use is a multi-billion dollar boondoggle that targets law-abiding duck hunters, while ignoring criminals? How would she suggest criminals who rape, rob, steal, and murder anyway, in gross violation of the law, would ever be inclined to not only register their firearms which are in most cases illegal, but to stop carrying them in the first place as concealed weapons. How would C-68 ever stop massacres when firearms are readily bought on the black market?
As to her use of the word "inhumane" to any attempts to derail aborticide, I ask her, would that word not be better applied to the tax-supported torture and murder of innocent unborn babies, and the accompanying mental, spiritual and physical desecration of women? How can she speak of women being murdered in a massacre and then inconsistently approve of the murder of babies, many of them girls, and the usual practice in some nations of gender murder by aborticide of baby girls?
I see she has been around, and wonder, now that the terrible CPC has taken a majority, if she will again move on to pastures more to her liking, perhaps Red China? Before she does, I would enlighten her to the fact that the left has murdered in the hundreds of millions of innocent people, and she would be well advised if she is moving on, for her own safety, to pass on such nations that embrace leftist ideologies.
