Something Cool & Local Scouts join forces  for Haiti.

Something Cool Frozen Foods, Sydenham is joining forces with Scouting Sections from Perth Road, Sydenham, and Verona, to raise money for disaster relief in Haiti.

On Friday, February 5, 10% of the store’s sales for the day will be sent to Scouts Canada, in time for a matching grant by the Canadian Government. Donations will then be forwarded to the Red Cross for distribution.

A communiqué from Scouts Canada encouraged local Scouting groups to fundraise for Haiti. You may have seen uniformed youth out canvassing. Owners of Something Cool, long-time members of the Scouting community, had previously discussed holding such a fundraiser for South Frontenac Group but, as is more and more frequently the case in our global community, friends of friends have lost their lives in this disaster. It was the consensus of those approached that the fundraiser be for Haiti rather than the Group.

“Everybody has to eat and, with money tight this time of year, parents of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Rovers can buy their groceries and help Haiti at the same time. Certainly, we hope the general community will participate as well,” said Harold Dalmas, Group Commissioner. “Donations can also be taken and will be forwarded to Scouts Canada for official charitable receipts.”

Something Cool Frozen Foods is located at 2779 Rutledge Road, Sydenham. For more information, contact Harold Dalmas at 613 372-2050 or [email protected], or contact Something Cool Frozen Foods at www.coolfoods.ca.
