Re: Ompah Libray Closure

(The following letter was sent to the Chair of the board of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library)

Dear Ms Richardson,

I hear that members of the KFPL Board are tired of hearing about/dealing with the people of Ompah. There is a simple way to address that: reinstate our six hours a week and give us the chance as citizens to further enhance our public library service.

The alternative? The incredible and truly foolish vote on April 27 to close our little branch will be just the beginning of your hearing a great deal more from and about us. That choice is up to the board.

Re: Quinte Conservation log removal structure

With regards to the log removal structure erected by the Quinte Conservation Authority at the Mill Pond in Arden to lift up the logs to let the water out, I think this is only a money grab. I understand that the logs have been lifted only once (since I retired in 1993) to let the water out. So what’s the big deal in erecting a structure? The Quinte Conservation Authority would not give consent in 2010 to lift the logs in order for the people (about 20) to remove weeds from the pond in order for the children to swim. This structure does not meet the approval of our people in the community.
