Eighty percentofall visual impairmentcan be prevented or cured. The first step to prevention is awareness. The second is early detection through vision screening. Around the world, the Lions Club has partnered with medical professionals and community leaders to screen young children and primary school students to identify those at risk for vision loss. Early identification leads to timely referral, professional treatment, and improved or restored sight.
Since a large portion of what children learn comes from their eyes, it is important to detect vision problems before they affect a child's performance in school. It is estimated that one in six children has a vision problem.
The Feb 8"‘ clinic will be a vision ‘screening’, and not a complete eye exam. The testing determines how well your child can see with each eye, how well both eyes work together(depth perception) and how well they can see at a distance. The information obtained from this screening is preliminary only and does not constitute a diagnosis of vision problems. The screening instruments used in ourtesting make no physical contact with your child and do not require eye drops. The screening can detect the presence of vision problems which could place your child at risk of delayed reading and learning.
