Each year the Frontenac County Business Awards celebrate the local businesses and the entrepreneurs from across Frontenac County.
“These individuals demonstrate invaluable contributions by demonstrating the qualities of partnership, leadership, community building, entrepreneurship and sustainability,” said a media release from Frontenac County announcing the nomination period.
The 2024 Frontenac Business Awards (FROBAS) are divided into categories: Business of the Year – New Business of the Year – Parternship/Collaboration of the Year - Woman led Business of the Year - and the Sustainability Award.
Nomination forms and additional information is available online at engagefrontenac.ca/frontenac-business-awards and nominations will remain open throughout the month of September.
“We judge the entries solely by the information that is included in the nomination form, so when filling out a form for a favourite business, as much detail and stories about the business and the business owner’s activities are helpful. It pays not to assume that the judges are familiar with the business because they base their decisions on the nomination forms alone,” said Debbi Miller, Community Development Officer with the Frontenac County Economic Development Department.”
The criteria are laid out on the award web page. For example, under Business of the Year Award, they include: collaboration with other businesses; support for the promotion of Frontenac County, and offering a contribution to the Frontenac community in one or multiple ways. This includes community connection, marketing and promotion, leadership, mentorship, and support of other businesses in our community.
Nominations close on Monday, September 30, and the award winners will be announced at the Frontenac Business Retreat & Awards event on Tuesday, November 5, at RKY Camp.
Winners will receive a one-of-a-kind award, designed by a Frontenac County artist to display in their business as well as a digital seal for use in their business promotion.
The Frontenac County Business Awards are an acknowledgement and thank-you for the hard work these entrepreneurs have invested while establishing and growing their businesses.
“We are inviting anyone and everyone in our community to nominate a local business that they feel represents the principles and ideals of good business, entrepreneurship, community and collaboration,” said Miller.
